pin, a Ford-owned micromobility firm, has unveiled a Google Maps interface. Users can now examine Spin's electric scooters and bikes on the app while planning their trip in 84 cities, towns, and campuses across the United States, Canada, Germany, and Spain.
Spin joins Lime, Spin's main competitor on the popular mapping app, which just revealed a link with Moovit, a transportation planning software. As shared mobility becomes more integrated into the broader transit ecosystem, we should expect to see more integrations of micromobility providers with mapping apps.
According to a recent analysis on the condition of the micromobility sector by the North American Bikeshare & Scootershare Association, 50 percent of riders use shared mobility to connect to transit, and 16 percent of all micromobility trips are for the purpose of connecting to transport.
